So I have a 500gb WD external hard drive for Time Machine. Can I use that formated hard drive on a pc still?

try macfuse with the 3g+ntfs driver it was created by a person at google and it works great my external HDD is in NTFS for my windows setup and it lets TM see hte HDD

Make it this way. 250gb for Time machine, the other 250 for other stuff. Format the one for other stuff in NTFS, then get Paragon NTFS for mac, which will let you use ur NTFS partition in Mac.

MacFuse and ntfs-3g are not made by anyone at Google; it's hosted by Google. Technically only MacFuse is hosted by Google, but everyone pretty much only uses it for ntfs-3g anyway.
