hi,
im getting my 17" MBP next week. i got a question about time machine app.
do i have to leave the back up HD constantly on?
is it possible that i turn the external back up HD on lets say once a week, run the time machine and do a back up of all changes?
thanks

There's a shareware/freeware program that allows you to set a schedule (e.g., daily at 3am, weekly Sunday at 4am). I forget the name, but surely a search on version tracker will turn it up.

ok, just set up my external 1TB HD as time machine default back up device. it has already done a 32gb backup.

can i add my 500GB and 160GB external HDs to be backup up by time machine automatically too?

I just turn "automatic backups" off. I click back up now whenever I need it, or after I have made some big changes. I will try that editor... every hour is absolutely rediculous. I am not retarded enough to need hourly backups in case I mess up a file. If I do, then I am cool with living with the consequences. I would much rather have backups far into the past than a huge emphasis on the last 24 hrs...
