Time Machine Question

Hello All,

Im planning to get an external HDD and use time machne to backup 2 macbooks.

I know you can get software to backup the macbook in schedule like at a certain time but will this work if i have closed the macbook and its sleeping?

Time Machine only works while a computer is awake.

Time Machine is meant to "set it and forget it." So your MacBook will back itself up when you wake it up (within an hour) It's not really a big strain on the CPU so I wouldn't bother with scheduling.

ahh ok and from what ive read after the initial backup the incremental ones dont take time anyways.

True, no more than a minute or two in most cases.
