I bought a WD portable 500 GB HD for my 06' MBP because I am selling it soon to upgrade when the new Air's come out. So basically it asked to use Time Machine to backup my files.

My question, will this take care of EVERYTHING? (music, movies, saved safari tabs, word, excel, powerpoint) I plan to wipe my MBP soon and want to be absolutely sure everything is saved via time machine.

Another thing, I am running on 10.5.8 (got lazy with upgrading software).

Anything else I should be weary of?

It literally copies everything the first time. Since you can use Time Machine to restore a wiped system from a backup, it has to copy everything.

Time Machine on 10.5 Leopard takes FOREVER. Seriously. It will literally take all day.
