So just yesterday I decided to use time machine for the first time because my computer has been lagging and acting up. I figured I would just reinstall everything from scratch by wiping out the drive, and that is what I did. I reinstalled and updated everything back to mountain lion. Now I want to transfer all my files over from my external hd. Option I do the system restore, or would that just restore my computer back to its slugish state? Option two: just cut and paste all my files over from time machine? Is there a better way? Thanks in advance

Sluggishness is very, very, very rarely caused by data on your hard drive. Restore away.

If it is still sluggish after the reinstall, most likely something hardware, not software, is failing.
