Hi,

I have a Iomega StorCenter ix2-200 and I want to use it for Time Machine backups over the network. It's working nicely, but I can't seem to restrict its sparsebundle file. I want to limit it to say 300GB, but I don't know (a) how to do this, or (b) if this is a safe thing to do.

I've heard that when the quota is reached Time Machine may not delete old backups correctly or reclaim the space. Can anybody help please?

Thanks in advance,
Chris

TM is supposed to delete the oldest backup when the drive gets full. I would just create a partition for TM to the size you want.

I've got my TM backup on an external drive attached to a file server (old PowerBook). I've partitioned the external so that TM is twice the size of my MacBook and I use the rest for iTunes. It works perfectly.
