Our 2007 iMac with a 2TB internal drive finally died. We fortunately have several Time Machine (TM) backups. Our new setup includes an iMac with a 512GB internal SSD and a networked (ethernet) Drobo N. I have searched but have yet to find how to restore part of the TM backup (user files -- music, pictures, docs, etc.) to the Drobo.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Hey Brian -- Thanks for touching base. The one I have the highest confidence in is on an external 2TB drive. I also have one that might work that's on a Time Capsule.

You can easily restore entire folders at a time, for example the Documents folder.

Hold the option key then click the Time Machine menu item and select browse other disks, then select the ™ backup you want to access. Now navigate to the folder you want like Documents. Now right click on that and pick the option that says "restore xxxx to..." You all get a popup that asks where you want to restore that folder. Now just navigate to the folder on the Drobo then click okay.
