I installed Leopard on two G4 machines.
1) Everything went just fine and I got Time Machine to work on the G4 1Ghz iMAC.
2) On the 1.5Ghz PowerBook, I can't get Time Machine to do a full backup. I ruled out that the problem is on the external hard drive as I've re-formatted it a number of times and also faced the same problem when trying to backup to a drive that I use with the iMAC that I am able to backup just fine.
The problem description is as follows:
1. I start from a freshly formatted hard drive (250 Gb) where my PowerBook has about 20Gb of data to backup.
2. I go to the Time Machine setup and select that disk. It says that the backup will start in 120 seconds
3. Once it gets to zero is starts determining how much/what it needs to backup
4. Backup starts from 0 of 20Gb. Once it reaches 45Mb it suddenly gets stuck...
5. It stays in this stuck position for about 30 seconds and then the progress indicator disappears and the Time Machine window shows a blank date for when the last backup was performed
6. I check the external drive and see that a backup folder was created but only 45Mb were recorded (of the 20Gb that it should have)
I have tried formatting the disk, repairing both the Macintosh HD volume as well as the external disk, repairing permissions, deleting the Time Machine plst file, etc... but it still doesn't work....
Any suggestions??
Thanks!
