I was wondering if there is any Time Machine-style back up to an out-of-the-box external HD for selective folders in existence?

Namely, I want to back up my Music, Pictures, and Documents folders daily but to an external that will be read on Windows computers if necessary.

So no additional ideas? I was wondering if there's an infographic or something that explains the details of each kind of hard drive format. The read/write capabilities of each OS, file limitations, etc. Reason being, I wouldn't mind formatting a partition in a Mac read/writable and Windows readable format.

apple has the answer for you.
if your a champ you'll just write your own app to do it, shouldn't take more then 30 mins to make an applescript for it.
if your a little on the lazy side apple has a pice of software called backup, its originally intended for MobileMe users to backup to their idisk, but it will also backup any folder/file to any disk. a little googling for mobilemebackupv3.2 should do the trick.

Does Backup support multiple hard drive-formats?
