Hi,

Here's the situation:
I often stay at a friend's house (who has an AirPort Express) and have a NAS-disk (LaCie Network Space 2), attached to my MBP via Ethernet (I connect to the network via AirPort and do not use network sharing). Recently I started to use that disk as my Time Machine disk. The disk has a function via the web interface to let Macs recognize the disk as a Time Machine disk. To do this I need to log on the web interface with a user name and password, and when I've set the function, I need to give a user name and password at the Time Machine settings.

When I completed these steps, my friend told me that his Time Machine was switched on, when he didn't tell it to do so. Furthermore, no Time Machine disk was found in his settings, and my NAS-disk wasn't shown in his Finder.

We'd like to know what triggered Time Machine to switch on. Does anyone have experience with this? Please help so it can be prevented in the future. :)
