I have a Macbook Air (Rev 1 1.6GHz HD) that I ruined by spilling oil onto the keyboard. I took it apart to clean myself but the damage was done. About 1/3 of the keys don't work, and the Airport can't maintain a connection. So I need a new machine.
I would prefer to get a new aluminum Macbook, but I'd like to know if a Time Machine system restore from a Time Capsule is possible. What exactly is restored? I have a few Fink and Macport binaries installed, but I was going to remove them anyways. Everything else is just data and universal apps. If restoring to a Macbook isn't possible, then what is compatible? Would a Rev 2 Macbook Air be compatible?
If not, then I'd have to do a user migration. I only have my personal account and an account for hellanzb. What exactly is included in a user migration? I don't want to waste time chasing down dependencies and crap. I hate sysadmin work, but I'm starting to realize that if you want something done right, you gotta do it yourself.
