Time Machine Thinks my Backup is 7.76 Tb

So I was Planning on moving my Time machine back up to a new external hard drive (currently its on a 2 Tb drive, I want to move it to a 3Tb drive) So I went to See how big the backup is and it says its 7.76 Tb, because of this it wont let me move the back up, I guess im asking why it thinks its that big, and is there a way to fix it?

EDIT: By the way the real size of it should be around 1.5 Tb

The reason the drive size is off is because Time Machine uses hard links for files and their copies. Take a look here for how Time Machine works.
