Time Machine tries to update with no network

When I'm at work with my MBA, my Time Machine still tries to backup to my TC at home. Obviously since I'm at work my wireless network is not detectable and the TC is nowhere to be found...yet my MBA still tries to backup and of course fails.

Is this normal for it to still try?
