Time Machine - Unsupported Volumes

I had a HDD failure and had to get a new one. I was backing up using Time Machine and an an unsupported NAS drive. I tried to mount the sparse image and received an error. Anyone know if there's a script to run in Terminal to let you mount from an unsupported volume similar to the one that lets you write to one?
