Time Machine volume too big for MBP HDD restore - HELP!

I had to do a fresh install of Snow Leopard on my MBP and when I went to restore from my TM, it says the volume on MBP is too small.

Can I shave off files somehow to make my TM smaller so it will fit on my MBP?

Thoughts?
