I recently had to restore my entire system from a Time Machine backup, and things have been weird since.

However, my specific question right now is about the computer's volume. The computer was on mute when I made the backup from which it was restored, and now any time I start the computer, the sound is always muted (even if it was turned on when the computer shut down). Not only is this annoying, but it's also a sign that something isn't quite right with my system. Any ideas on how to fix it so the computer's volume is the same when I start it up as it was when I shut it down?

I found a solution. If anyone else is having this problem, simply go to Macintosh HD>Library>Preferences>Audio and delete these two files:

com.apple.audio.DeviceSettings.plist
com.apple.audio.SystemSettings.plist

They will be recreated when you restart your computer and the sound should no longer be muted on startup.
