Hi,

I'm planning on buying a time machine for myself but it will be used as a router for my apartment which I share with other roomates. Can anyone using the time capsule as a router mount the drive (mac and pc) in the time capsule? Is there a way to block certain MAC addresses from accessing the drive?

Thanks,

Matt

obviously you can set a password so that only you and your roommates can access the router (so you can protect the internet connection and the hard drive in the TC from other people). also, airport utility also allows you secure shared disks with a separate disk access password (go to the disks > file sharing). so i think this means you can let your roommates get internet connection but not access your disk. never tried it myself so i'm not 100% sure, but it seems like you can just from looking at the options in airport utility.

sounds good, thanks for the reply, now i just have to buy it to be totally sure
