I am using a late 2008 Unibody Macbook Pro (10.5.7) with a 250 GB HDD, and my Time Machine drive is a 320GB Western Digital MyBook. I have excluded a bunch of different folders and items from being backed up by Time Machine in the past, including my Windows 7 VM for Parallels, with no problems.

I always exclude any Bittorrent download folders so that they are not constantly being backed up at their full size for every TM backup, and this has always worked in the past. I am currently downloading a torrent of a bunch of open-source software to try out, and when I find the folder to exclude it by clicking the "+" button in the Time Machine options screen, it appears in the list, next to about 10 other items that I am excluding. However, if I exit my preferences and re-enter the same screen, the folder is no longer on my exclude list. I have tried restarting, clearing and re-populating my exclude list, etc., but this one particular folder is never successfully added to the list. It's not a huge torrent and I won't have to worry about this for long, but I was just really confused that I couldn't add it to the list.

Any ideas?
