Hello. I am about to get a new laptop through the school system. I am going to take my current hard drive and put it in the new machine. My question is, will Time Machine continue to do incremental backups or will it start over again? Is TM based on the computers MAC address? If so, is there anyway to make the new computer to just continue back ups? Thanks!

How about backing up thru TM then during the set up of the new laptop choose the TM backup. Then use the same name of the old laptop as the name of the new laptop so TM continues the back up.
