My Time machine won't back up. I tried repairing the disk via disk utility and it says it can't be complete. I can access the hard drive and see what's on there. How can I get my drive to back up again? Any thoughts? Some research I've done has suggested that it's dead or starting to fail. I can't do a SMART test on it since it is an external drive.

If Disk Util can't repair the disk it won't work with Time Machine. You could try to just completely reformat the disk and start over. That may fix the corruption.

Do you have access to an IBM-PC? If so, I have a potential solution for you.
