Time Machine won't disable

I'm on a MacPro and have used Time Machine with a Time Capsule. Last month the TC's power supply got fried and won't power up at all. I removed it from my network, but I cannot manage to get TM to stop trying to back-up to it.

I've disabled TM in System Preferences, no go. I've deleted the com.apple.TimeMachine.plist from the Library>Preferences directory, no go.

How do I just simply disable TM so I stop getting the pop-up screen that now asks for me to select a disk.

I just want to make it stop

In the popup you can choose "Never use" or "Don't use" not quite sure, then you don't get the popup anymore.
