Help!!!

Time machine wont back up my external hard drive.... it automatically excluded it in the preferences and wont let me change it. Does any one know how to fix this?
 
Its a brand new external hard drive...I was able to transfer my itunes data to it. I just cant get it off the exclusions list in the time machine preferences

If I understand correctly you want Timemachine to backup your external drive too, right?
How is the drive formatted? FAT32 or NTFS? You need to format the external drive in HFS+ or time machine won't back it up.

I think that most drives are NTFS factory,
Go to Applications>Utilities>Disk Utility. Then select the Drive and format it to HFS+. That should do it. Is this a Western Digital or Maxtor External Drive?
