As the idea would be good in general , but you know how much the parts would cost then ?
You may need to stock parts for a year or longer until they are needed , so parts which sell more often have to compensate for the parts who dont sell often .
Apple has quiet a wide range of parts that are not interchangeable .
So you need a well stocked warehouse , cant do that sort of business from your garage unless you specialise on mac mini parts only , think about those CRT displays of iMac G3's and eMac's , all the different PowerMac G4 and the G5 cases , different iMac cases take a lot of room .
Some parts are not available new any more , so you need the facilities to check used parts and a certified technician , because as a business you cant just sell as "maybe still working " as a business you want to give warranties and in certain countries you even have to by law !
You need if you make a worldwide business somebody on a computer/phone 24/7 to check for and answer emails and phone calls
That sort of business is not manageable by 1 person only from a garage
But i have a idea that would be manageable , but its not really a business idea.
and your post and another another forum i am interested in ( monkey bikes from honda) has thrown that idea towards me
what about here on the forum a "parts available list" under the marketplace (not for financing the new MacPro of somebody)
i bet there are some among us who have parts lying around which they dont necessary need , but might be happy to give them away just for the shipping cost to help a fellow Mac user who desperately needs that part . so no need to post a "i need part xxx" thread , just look in the list and find it .
Lots of people here on the forum who have new intel Mac's and their PPC Mac's are somewhere in the loft gathering dust ,even non working ones could have still a couple working parts in them .
Ebay is a great source, but some dont ship into other countries some even do list as pickup only , neither does help if you live in another country if you would need that part . Some have fictional ideas about the value of the part/Mac
i mean there are people selling for example working PowerMac g5's (ok single 1.6 or 1.8 ) for £60 and others want for the case alone over £150
