Time out problem

Certain program on my system example, safari, firefox, itunes and xtorrent
will try and quit and close the program if im away from the system for more than 5 minutes.
It has only started since i have put a password on my account, any ideas on how to stop this as its pretty annoying

Check System Preferences > Security > General and see if Log out after y minutes of inactivity is checked and set to a low value.
