quick question... Is there a setting somewhere that turns time stamps on for all texts?
Currently, my i4 displays a date/time above the first text after a certain period of inactivity- not sure what this timeframe is though. I'd like to have a time stamp for each text. Is this possible?

Not currently possible on an unjailbroken phone :(

Even some of the 3rd party App Store messaging apps follow this model.

Annoying to say the least. Just give us an option to show the detail!

I bet you they had timestamps build in at one point. Then Jobs said it looks like **** and made them get rid of it and replace it with the silly implementation they have now.

I don't know why Apple couldn't just make it to where you could tap on the text bubble and have it slide you to another page with the timestamp. That page could have the buttons to forward, copy, delete, save. Or even better, have it parse out adresses and have a maps button.

I can't tell you how many times I have had people text me an address.

It does it for email, phone numbers, tracking numbers and URL's, why not have it do it for physical adresses?

It's a super simple update that would really help a lot of people. I'm sure the no time stamps thing is something that holds back some businesses from using the iPhone.

There is a lot of cool things that could be done with the messages app.

It's the same thing iChat does and yes it's freaking annoying. Still waiting for that to change.

I wouldn't mind so much if we knew what the current algorithm to show timestamps was. I can't seem to find any pattern in their behaviour, it's almost as if it rolls a dice every couple of texts.

it does it for the first text after every hour and after every 15, 30, and 45 past, most of the time

i think the iPhone displays timestamps in 15min intervals......

It seems people on here don't read the threads before commenting.......uanuglyfool answered the question before you asked it
