How long does it take your MBP to boot from off? I have a 2.66 I7 with 8gigs of RAM and since Apple replaced the HD, besides the new drive not being as quiet it seems to take longer to boot. Time 8 separate boot operations and average time was 49 seconds from off to operational. Oh using Lion 10.7.3

Since boot time has almost nothing to do with CPU speed, but only with the speed of the storage device, the HDD in your case, those times are okay.
Why don't you use the SLEEP feature instead of shutting the Mac down?
