Timecapsule and AE-- How it shows up in Airport Utility

I set up the AE to extend my wifi network.. i needed to upgrade my signal from the TC in my office to the new AE in my family room.

Ok. So I get that done,

BUT

On the Airport Utility App on my iPad it shows a solid line from Internet to TC------and a broken line from the TC to the AE.

Is this right or is the AE not working correctly?

Broken line means wireless connection between both.

Are they wired together?
