Timecapsule missing space after formatting

So I have 3TB Timecapsule and after I formatted it, while it says 3TB free on Airport Utility, when I go to TimeMachine and set it as a backup disk it says 2.25TB of 3TB available. I can't see any files on it and I am also checking for hidden ones. So which number do I trust? Is this normal or am I mystically missing space? Bad sectors on HDD? It is the older generation that looks like Mac mini, not the new tall one.
