I have had my 1TB Time Capsule for almost a year now and i notice it gets particularly hot after a few back ups. and stays that way for a while ... however the wireless transmission isnt seemingly affected by it and its approaching that "18 month" time frame.

I was think of reducing the heat and perhaps power consumption by replacing the current 1TB HDD 3.5" with a 2.5" 1TB HDD; do you think it would make a difference in form factor for the power consumption and possibly reduce the heat atleast a little bit?

with regards to remounting the 2.5" 1tb id probably get an additional foam pad with and put adhesive on either side to mount it directly to the time capsule without using the screws.
