timemachine onto something other than time capsule?

yo. i was wondering if you could back up your whole mac on an external harddrive that isn't time capsule. because frankly timecapsule is pretty expensive

Yes,of course you can!!! Most people have external hard drives(not TC) because if the price!!Nothing to worry about!

Yes, when you plug in your external you can click "back up now" at your own leisure.
