Hi, i post this because I only recently found it and I don't know how much it is common knowledge.
To delete many photos from your camera roll all at once, you can open the Camera Roll, hit the "Forward" icon at the bottom, then touch each thumbnail in turn that you want to delete. After all the photos to be deleted are selected, hit the delete button at the bottom and confirm. Done.
