I was wandering the interwebs looking for guides to time lapse astrophotography and stumbled across this awesome video. These visuals are simply breathtaking. He filmed it all with Canon and Red Mx Cameras.

I'm inspired. I wish I could get my hands on one of those cranes and one of those Red Cameras. those things are like 25,000$ for the low end model.

You can do a more basic version of that without spending $25,000. If you get a motorised tripod head and mount your camera on that you can get panning and tilting. But the biggest thing is location since that will make or break a timelapse (just like any photo or video).
