I have an iBook running the latest OSX update. Just noticed that when I re-start there's a tiny little icon that flashes on the screen before the gray Apple shows up. The little icon looks like it could be the Classic OS9 logo - but it's so fast I haven't been able to know for certain.

Any idea what this might be? I have a 12"G4 PowerBook and a 14" MacBook and neither of them do this. Tried searching the forums but couldn't come up with anything.

It's a small folder with a question mark right?

If so I'm guessing you had bootcamp installed at some point.

I could be wrong and it might be the EFI looking for the O/S.

Can't be Bootcamp or EFI, it's an iBook

Go to System Preferences - Startup Disk - make sure your OS X folder is selected. Problem solved :)
