Tiny Umbrella, SHSHs Pwnage Tools and Baseband

Ok, so I think I'm pretty knowledgeable the whole jailbreak thing (I said I think I am). Anyway, I do get confused on a point. Everything I read is that TU saves your SHSH and allowed me to update while preserving my baseband. I'm have an iP4 with fw 4.1 and bb 1.59.00.

So I guess my confusion stems from pwnage tool preserving the baseband. Doesn't TU do this? Or does it all depend on which jailbreak tool I use?

They both do it but thru different ways.
Pwnage creates a custom JB Ipsw that leaves your bb untouched.
TU let's you restore to official firmware without updating your baseband.

I'm jailbroken on 4.1 and want to update 4.2.1 so I can mess around with airplay. Can I use tiny umbrella to update the FW without updating the baseband and if I can does anyone mind telling me how? I dont mind losing the jailbreak for now, but I would like to keep the same baseband so I can unlock in the future.

TU let's you restore to official firmware without updating your baseband.

It should be noted that TU only does this for the iPhone 4. Those with the iPhone 3G or 3GS must use PwnageTool.

True, iPhone 4 only folks. TU won't maintain your baseband on a 3G or 3GS.
