Is there a step by step tutorial that will help me restore to 4.0.1 from my SSH backup?

Just open TinyUmbrella, click "Start TSS server," then in iTunes hold down shift (Win) or option (Mac) and click restore. It will ask you to select the correct firmware file. Choose it, and your phone will be restored. Pretty simple.

If you need to download the firmware file, you can get it at the iPhone Wiki.

You didn't mention what phone you have but it's all essentially the same really.

It's not an SSH backup, it's an SHSH backup.

I've never opened Cydia as part of the process. Don't see what that does.

What firmware were you on? Yes you can upgrade to 4.0.2 and downgrade back to 4.0.1 but it'd be pretty pointless.

It's just odd because the 3002 error usually happens when trying to upgrade from a 3.x firmware. Turn Tinyumbrella off and see if you can restore to 4.0.2 first then.

found the answer..i was pointing to the 4.0.1 and it should have been 4.0! Thanks All...

Did it look like it finished restoring? Try using the 'kick device out of recovery mode' button in Tinyumbrella if it did.

The only thing it did was changed the size and height of the signal bars on the top left. Nothing else.
Its pointless to update IMO but up to you.

I'm not sure what the issue is, but this is certainly no longer on topic for this thread. While it is good to resist the temptation to create more threads than necessary, please create a new thread for truly distinct issues.

Nope problem..I got it fixed and I will keep that in mind for future post.
