... but wanted to keep some of the experience of Lion.

After 2 months on Lion, I finally went back on Snow Leopard for many reasons which I won't describe here. There is already many threads on this forum regarding that darkside of Lion.

But when I downgraded, I missed few features of Lion which are Mail, TouchPad features and some Space tweaks (left-right only, different wallpaper, ...)

Here is some programs which will help you to reach this is SL.

For mail, I replaced it with Postbox (http://www.postbox-inc.com/) which is like the new Mail of Lion.

For touchpad feature I used a free program Bettertouchtool (http://blog.boastr.net/) This way I use reverse scrolling and reverse left-right + I added new gestures shortcuts. Pretty cool.

For tweaking Space I used Hyperspaces (http://thecocoabots.com/hyperspaces/) With that I removed 1 row to keep only 1 row and made differents tweaks like having different wallpaper for each of my space).

These programs are nothing new and already have been discussed here I'm pretty sure. However, this is just a tip thread for those like me who want to get SL as cool as Lion is in term of gadget.

If you know other programs which can make SL with the cool gadgets of Lion, just write them here.

So, wait, why are you avoiding Lion when your trying to make Snow Leopard as Lion-like as possible?

Battery life suffered by around 40% in Lion on my MacBook Pro 2010 13". Also, CoolBook isn't supported in 10.7 without a workaround, and is a must-have application allowing me to put in an 8-hour day without need for an adapter.

FileVault 2 is the only feature I miss. But when Lion has reached 10.7.3 or so I'll most likely make the switch.

By the way, another application which allows me to customize Finder in Snow Leopard is PathFinder. Those puny sidebar icons can be modified to any convenient size.

The problems with PostBox is that although the interface is nice, it doesn't support native Exchange Server protocols and it doesn't have a resize photo feature like Apple Mail does.

The main topic of my thread was not why Lion is bad or good, but how can we get the good out of Lion (or at least trying to get it.) into Snow Leopard for all of us who want to continue running SL for many reasons.

On my side, I had many little glitch with Lion which I though I could live up with, but in sum it was way to irritating. And the other major point was the temperature Lion was running on my imac 2011. I would often reach 88C on the GPU without doing any extensive task. In SL, even under full GPU load, I can't reach such high temp. I want to keep this little baby for a long time, so I want it to be in the optimum condition.

I agree, I had high expectation on Lion and it did not convince me. At least Apple did refund me, which is nice from them. Maybe in future I would buy it again, but for now, I would stick with Snow Leopard for a while as it is working the way I like.

Also, another program I'm using for the finder is TotalFinder (http://totalfinder.binaryage.com/). It does make in finder works in tab, like a browser. I find it so much useful than having many windows.

And one other cool program, even with Lion is HyperDock (http://hyperdock.bahoom.com/)

Why would you want iOS scrollbars in SL that is one of the reasons I upgraded back to SL. I don't want a dark, dreary, colorless OS that only batman would relate to

SL already has a great set of multi-touch gestures.....which Apple changed on Lion for no particular reason.......

You mean downgraded back to SL.

Nope a downgrade would entail going to an operating system with less options. Considering that lion removes so much and hurts productivity. By definition, going from snow leopard to lion is a downgrade And erasing lion to reinstall snow leopard is an upgrade

Also things to take into consideration:

More heat in Lion
Worse Battery Life in Lion
Higher Memory Usage in Lion
