Any tips on buying a used MBP? I would be buying in person through craigslist so I would have the opportunity to inspect the MBP first. How do I go about verifying things like the processor speed, chipset, memory, HD space, graphics card, and whether or not the display is LED? This is a MBP, 2.4 Ghz Core 2 Duo Santa Rosa, 2 GB memory, 160 GB HD, 256 MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics, and glossy LED. I don't have much experience with Macs so I'm not really sure how to check these things.

Also, the seller advertises a 3 year AppleCare warranty that is transferable. How do I verify the warranty?

Anything else I should look for or ask about?

Thanks.

Ask for...

... a picture of the "About this Mac" screen from the MBP. this will give you the basic computer specs and serial #. you then call Apple Care support line and give the serial #, they can tell you if the warranty is in effect.
