I myself am a big fan of Craigslist and the deals you can make on it. However, there are many risks to be had and I'd like to help you be more informed to reduce the risks. Here are some quick tips:
-If purchasing an Apple Watch with AppleCare+ included, ensure the seller is willing to transfer the ownership/coverage to your name using this procedure. It takes about 20-30 minutes to complete over the phone so it can be a hassle but it is the only way to ensure they simply don't just cancel the coverage on you once they leave. Make sure they call in front of you and better yet on speaker. Get the assigned case number and follow up with Apple the next day.
-Check the serial number of the device using this Apple site. It'll assist you in determining authenticity and purchase date.
-If purchasing a non-AppleCare+ device and you'd still like to add AppleCare+ at some point, ensure the seller gives you proof of purchase. This way you can still add AppleCare+ to the device since you have up to 60 days from the purchase date. We're only at 30 days for launch day devices so you still have a bit of time.
-Please be safe and meet in a public place. If not an Apple Store than a Starbucks or any place with a lot of people and security cameras. Never meet at someones home nor at your own home. Safety is paramount.
