Hi guys,

I'm Paul, I've just bought my son a iPhone 6 and wanted a few tips on how to make sure he doesn't bend it :)

Has anyone got further information on the whole saga with bendgate and know if any of the rumours are true with the phones apparently bending?

I did see this for tips but didn't know if this was enough? http://redshed.co.uk/blog/how-to-stop-iphone-6-from-bending/

Would I be better taking it back and getting a 5? It's still under warranty at the moment.

Thanks in advance

Paul

Best advice is not buy into the hype and believe everything you see/hear in the news. Close to 100% chance that unless your son puts it into a vice grip, its not going to bend. It should be absolutely fine.

It's overblown. With normal use, it shouldn't bend. If you happen to have an issue with it bending, bring it Apple and they'll take a look at it, as stated by Phil Schiller. Keeping a case on it should help, but otherwise you shouldn't be concerned.

If it's a 6 I don't think you have to worry at all.

Even if it's a 6 plus it should not bend too easily. Maybe add a thin case if you're really concerned.

Thanks for the tips, it's a 6 yes. Is the 6 more durable than the 6plus supposedly then?

He doesn't wear skinny jeans, so we're good there! :)

I would highly recommend welding two iron rods in cross shape on back of your iPhone. That will guaranteed resolve the bending problem. Make sure you use galvanized iron so it won't rust.

Don't sit with it in your pocket. Put a stiff case on it.

And they can be bent and it doesn't take a vise grip.

Who thinks MR should instaclose anything thread with the word "Bend" in it?

Treat the device like a $700+ investment like we all should and there won't be any problems.

Thanks jbachandouris, appreciate any help I've got so far. Just nice to chat to people who are more in the know than myself at the moment.

When you put it in your pocket, alternate between screen facing leg and screen facing outside.

I got the handset for £29.99 one off payment and £45 a month so it is a big investment. I'll have to make sure it gets the insured bumped up to the premium option.
