What advice or tips would you give on producing a good music video?

Are there any books, UK courses or tutorials out there on this subject?

What options are there on a small budget?

Thanks.

oh boy...

1. do some research on how to make your own steadicam. the effects that you can use with panning and moving are awesome for such a cheap piece of gear. I have a link on my home computer I will post.

2. Lots of time. Be sure you can shoot all day long with no time constraints.

3. Color correct the living $h!t out of it

4. watch the genre you are looking for on youtube. LOTS.

5. First video? Don't do a "plot". Just shoot the band.

6. Try and have a 35mm adaptor. This will give a film look that music videos are based on.

More to follow.

Thank you my friend,
I have around nine months to do this, so i have plenty of time to learn.

It will be a dance music video for my own track, so there will be no band just a female vocalist.

Any links would be great. :)

the steadicam.

I haven't made one yet, but the ability to have a "crane/boom" is nice because you can do really wide pans with a long crane. I have seen one video where the guy used a mic stand and modded it with a gimble and weights.

I have thought about creating a string mechanism that would cause the camera to continue to look straight ahead as you panned left and right. follow?

are you looking for a fatboy slim effect?
what kind of music video are you looking to emulate? post it.

here is a music vid I did:

Not so much to do with dancing...

have a look at these videos in this thread:
https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/757677/

It sounds cold, but I find that it's good to look at amateur videos and think:
this is NOT what I want - i.e- camera shake

then look at pro videos and think:
I like THAT.

from there, you have a benchmark.

another thing you want to look at is LIGHTING. go to vimeo and check out their online video schools. Free and very informative.

what camera you shooting with?
