Now there are all kinds of interesting things that can be done to OS X through using modification programs and so on, but then there is a whole host of subtle mods to the OS that were built-in but have not been configured to be manipulated through system preferences. Many of these are achieved by using defaults write to change entries in plist files... From what I remember, these are the ones I've used so far:

- Make hidden apps in the dock visibly transparent
- Change the default format of screen grabs
- In Panther, I did the sort-directories-to-top-of-list one but that's not a great idea in Tiger.

I'm not sure if I've used other ones....

Any favorites you want to add to the list?
