Hi all,
We recently released our first app in the AppStore.
Tipsy (version 1.1.0 as of this post)
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/tipsy/id937505139
Due to my love and interest for Apple products and its technologies, I started picking up iOS SDK since version 3.0 as a hobby but have never got to release any app in the AppStore (although I built some at the Enterprise level). As a core web developer doing mostly front-end development work, I never imagined myself to dedicate so many hours in learning a native mobile technology since there are already so much to learn and adapt on the web.
About the app, first of all, it's purely written in Swift! Which was surprisingly easy to pick up. The API is very similar to OBJ-C's version and the syntax is somewhat more familiar to me since it's aesthetically similar to JavaScript. Of course, Swift is way lower level and complex than JS. I love exploring all the cool aspects of Cocoa Touch and have used a ton of frameworks. It does seem like an overkill for a mere tips calculator, but it was a rewarding learning and discovery experience.
Thank you all for the download!
Please leave some feedbacks and suggestions!
Technologies used in Tipsy 1.1.0:
- Apple Swift
- SpriteKit
- CoreData
- Geolocation
- TouchID
- Core Animation
- UIKit (minor extensions)
- MapKit
- AutoLayout
- Storyboard
Coming soon!
- Apple Watch
