My 1GHz is silent, I mean seriously, I never hear the fans start up even when I'm encoding DVDs or rendering particularly large 3D models.

Now the fans do kick on when I am running some of my audio apps, but those typically run at around 90% CPU load and are often ran at the load for fairly long times (up to 30 mins).
