So I bought a motorcycle on May 9th. The dealer mailed me a "Bill of Sale" document.

I do not have the title yet. Is this common practice? Are they just waiting until the check clears for sure?(it will)

or do i get the title once i register my bike?

This is my first time buying a new vehicle so thanks for any insight

The title (ownership certificate) will come from the state (generally) once they are notified of the transfer of title from the dealer to you, and that the title type has changed from a dealer import title to permanently registered one. Same with the registration (license). In some states this is all delivered to the original dealer, who then forwards it to you.

This is all predicated on the assumption that you will be the titled owner (paid in full, you'll hold the "pink slip"), in addition to being the registered owner. If you are making payments to anybody, they'll hold title until it's fully paid off.
