TM Backup to NAS works fine, but can't 'enter' TM

I've been using Time Machine with Lion 10.7.1 for a while on my MBA. I just set it up on my Mac Mini (10.7.2) and also upgraded my MBA to 10.7.2. I decided to completely delete the TM backups and start from scratch.

I've got both my MM and MBA now backed up to my Thecus N400Pro NAS.. backups work fine.. but when I try to 'enter Time Machine'.. nothing happens.. on EITHER machine.. Console log says the TM was mounted successfully, etc.. but the 'star wars' never starts up. Anyone have any ideas how to fix this? Is this an issue in 10.7.2 perhaps?
