Curious, can I convert my TMo physical SIM to eSIM I now before the new phone arrives? If so, how? I looked at TMo's site but to me it's sort of confusing. I'm post-paid if that makes a difference.

If you didn't order your new phone as being connected to T-Mobile (via eSIM) on delivery, you will need to contact T-Mobile when you get your phone and they will get you set up with an eSIM instead of the physical SIM. You can't do it yourself.
Ahh thanks!

You can convert a physical SIM to eSIM pretty easily once you have the new phone, and it doesn't matter where you purchased it.

The Apple Support- Transfer SIM support page provides guidance on doing it during setup or after setup. I've used it to transfer the line from a physical SIM in my mother's iPhone 11 to her iPhone 12 eSIM when she upgraded. It was much nicer than dealing with T-Mobile support.

And, to note, you don't have to be transferring it to a "new" phone. You can follow the procedure to transfer to any XS or newer on 13.1 or higher that is either unlocked or locked to the carrier issuing the SIM, in this case, T-Mobile.

Ah ok, cool. What I was looking to do now was convert my sim to eSIM on the same phone but when I tried this, it picked up my work phone's sim to transfer and I can't do that; it's disabled. I'll just wait until next week.
Thanks!
