The iPhone 5 GSM model (A1428) is being modified to support AWS bands, but what about the 4 and 4S? Surely they are being tweaked as well, since Tmobile is selling those on their network too, right? Just seems that there is no news or confirmation in regards to this.

No they aren't being changed. The 4/4S are only being sold by T-mobile in areas that have been refarmed. The hardware in the iPhone 5 already supported AWS so they only needed to enable the firmware at the factory. It isn't possible with the 4/4S since they never had the hardware support.

WRONG!

The current iphone 5 does not support AWS frequencies. The updated unlocked model will have AWS support after April 12th. This model will fully be compatible with AT&T and T-Mobile HSPA/LTE networks.

How was I wrong? The FCC filing by Apple shows the updated iPhone (A1428) is the exact same hardware as the current iPhone 5. All they did was load new firmware to enable AWS. This isn't possible on the 4/4S since they never had the hardware for AWS to begin with.
