just wondering. I'm 35 years old and I'm looking to switch careers since getting laid off back in April. Right now I'm studying for the Mac OS X v10.6 Troubleshooting and Essentials (ACSP) exam and plan on taking it by the end of the year. I am planning on earning my ACMT as well. I have no work experience or other certifications like A+, MCSE, etc. My background is in graphic design/fine arts and I know how to "drive" a mac very well, but never knew what was truly under the hood, so to speak.
My question is, what do you think my chances are in the field with only these two certifications? Is it pointless for me to earn these certifications without PC experience/certifications? I'm "the mac guy" to friends and family and have done a lot of support for them over the years. I've also done minor hardware fixes here and there, like replaced harddrives, upped ram, etc. but nothing major of course.
I would also like to know what the nature of the work of an ACMT is like. It excites me to think about diagnosing, tearing down and fixing macs, but I wonder if I'm looking at it through rose colored glasses? Can you give me the bad and the good? or any advice, thoughts for my situation?
(I asked a similar question a little while ago, but I was curious about not having any other certifications or experience. I apologize if this seems like a double post)
