I'm interested to know just how fast O2's HSDPA network is, when it comes do file download(not connection) speeds.

My (up to) 8MB BT Broadband PC connection gets maximum file download speeds of around 500kb/s(on a rare good day) and the subsequent wi-fi of my 1st gen iPhone is pretty nippy on this network. My broadband is far from the fastest around, so I was wondering if HSDPA on the iPhone 3G would be actually faster than my wi-fi?

If I may take this opportunity to ask any UK 3G owners to take the quick 1MB file speed test over at http://www.dslreports.com/mspeed and post any results? :)

Edit: I guess results from around the world would be useful to know too.

Regards,

BergerFan.

can i add this:
download speeds will depend on distance from cell tower, number of people using 3g, time of day, and many, many other things

i would do it, but theres no 3g at my house (although just down the road, maybe 10 metres, i sometimes get 1 bar! ;) )
