to anyone upgrading their 2012 mbp to ssd

please post what your ssd speed is... it is unclear at this point if the upgrade ssd option in the 2012 non-retina mbp (13 or 15 inch) will be as fast as the new storage in the 2012 air and the retina mbp.

I'd say faster as many SSDs are sata III, and apple doesnt use the fastest, just the cheapest

I put a Crucial M4 120Gb in my new MacBook Pro 13 i5.

Im new to mac so is there a benchmark you would want me to use?

Your just wrong on that one, the SSD in this machine blows most SSD drives away, and it uses the latest SATA 3 6 gigabit link speed.

I really want to know whether these have been limited Sata wise.

Also what SSD is this. I'd like to know how much it would be if I didn't buy it from apple.

I put the Samsung 830 SSD in mine and it's crazy fast. I haven't played with the newest Mac Air to compare but I'm getting Samsung's advertised speeds.

i don't care what your own upgraded ssd speeds are.

i'm asking those who chose the bto apple ssd option for the new 2012 mbp...

not the air, not the retina mbp... the traditional mbp.

for the ssd upgrade in the bto route, what is apple's ssd speed?

we've now seen that the fan in the 15 mbp is not the new fan - and presumably, the 13 inch mbp has the same, old fan, too.

so i'm wondering if apple at least is putting newer, faster ssd in their bto machines.

Post # 4 has the info you're looking for from a Macbook pro with an Apple SSD and those speeds are no different than the store bought Samsung 830 SSD I have and it should be the same one in the Air or Retina MBP.

BTO MBP 13 w 256G Samsung 830 installed by Apple. Fast, similar to the numbers shown above.
